Memory Bears are Gifts of the Heart
Many of you have read my story in the Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul about Gifts of the Heart. This year I had the priviledge of caring for my ex-husband, Gary, as he battled cancer. Even though we were divorced for 10 years, we were his famiy. We had 9 grandchildren when he passed away and recently added one more. So THIS Christmas I took some of “Pops” old sweaters and made teddy bears for each child. I wasn’t sure if they would appreciate them because the kids range from 3 months to 13 years – but they understood the special meaning from each one of them. Lea named hers “Popcicle” cause that’s what she called her Grandpa. Someone told me I could have a business making memorial bears for others who have lost a loved one. Great to know that in today’s economy there’s always a creative way to make a living right? But these are true Gifts of the Heart, one of a kind, filled with love and warmth for each of them.
